Cozumel, April 2009, Part Deux.....
Monday, April 13, 2009 at 9:02PM Greetings again,
I managed to dodge fins and discombobulated divers and survived the remaining dives in Cozumel. Let us just say that I am more firmly convinced then ever that there is definitely room in the world for more dive training. I also think there should be some kind of "certification" before being allowed to wear a Speedo on a dive boat..... Especially one that was old and worn and subjected to more stress then the space shuttle on entering the atmosphere. No Blair, I am not talking about myself here. There was one guy whose sole diving attire consisted of said speedo and a large abalone shell on a gold chain. Very interesting and definitely European. (No offense to the rest of Europe)
I also have to report that I have some remedial film work to do. Most dives in Cozumel are very relaxing and on average, you will probably see at least one "cool" thing per dive. I had just finished a dive with Kim and she wanted to run the camera for the next dive. No problem, right? Well actually, big problem. It turns out I had left the camera recording when I had climbed on the boat and I had 20 minutes of some great footage of the inside of the rinse bucket on the boat.............Which meant that Kim had no film for the dive. Ordinarily this would result in missing one "cool" thing. Problem was, this dive turned out to be the best dive of the trip and I have no footage of A) the 8' free swimming green moray with me about 2' above it, B) the large swimming turtle with me about 2' above it, C) and the largest nurse shark ever, resting on the sand in the open. Oh well, I guess we will have to go back...:-)
