From left: Cedric, Jeremy, David, Jehannine, SoniaSonia, Jehannine, Cedric, Teri, David and Jeremy enjoyed a day of diving in Indian Arm Shay's nice dive boat "Cheers".
Damn, it was cold and sleety. Thank god it wasn't a shore dive. Bone-chilling.
Annoyances ensued. First off, Jeremy couldn't figure out how to replace the battery in his oxygen analyzer. Good thing David brought his own analyzer. Then Jeremy brought out his fancy new camera only to realize that the battery was still plugged into the charger at home. And then his scooter crapped out on him about 30 seconds into the first dive.
*sigh*
Despite those glitches, though, things righted themselves and we had a splendid time. Indian Arm is essentially undiveable most of the year due to atrocious visibility (surrounded on three sides by mountains, all the runoff makes it a murky soup), but for a shortish window every winter, you can enjoy decent visibility. We probably had about 30' on our two dives, which ain't too bad for that area.
First dive, teams were Jeremy, Jehannine and Sonia; and Teri, David and Cedric. As mentioned before, Jeremy's scooter died as Team 1 were descending from the surface, so they all stowed our scooters and swam the rest of it. Jehannine's primary light packed it in a few minutes later, too - the subject of an amusing rant when we got to the surface. I just hope she's not planning on bringing that thing into the caves down in Florida.
On our surface interval, we indulged in a delicious Black Forest cake, courtesy of resident pastry chef Teri - she really outdid herself this time.
Second dive, the teams reconfigured. Jehannine and Sonia in one team, Jeremy and Cedric in another, and Teri and David in a third. Again, not much life to be seen down there - apart from a lot of shrimp and a Ling Cod egg mass being carefully guarded by daddy.
Despite the unappealing weather, we all enjoyed the warmth of Shay's hospitality, and hope to head out on another charter with him soon.
